Review of Fifty Shades Darker (2017) by Devaughn B — 17 Feb 2017
Mega Hollywood production is A+ and while I found the sexual fetish stuff ridiculous, stupid and creepy gross, if you can get past that, the storyline is brilliant, cinematography on point, actors fantastic, hair/makeup/wardrobe on point and the musical soundtrack is beyond top notch -- every song is new and poignant and grand.
I never saw the first installment but loved the romance/suspense trailer for this one and the film did not disappoint. You really fall for the two main characters and the family. The scenes are set up and shot beautifully, script and story clear as day and all elements of film making and artistry come together.
Both lead actors have extremely vulnerable and expressive faces. You don't see that much in acting now a day and in this film it is very key to the drama with a script light on dialogue and more on emotion and scene setting.
Very well cast. Again, the fetish stuff was not for me, but this is based on a popular book about the topic so I get it, and learning the back story for the fetish puts it all into perspective. Huge Hollywood production and entertaining all the way.
End of film had trailer for part 3, so stick around past the credits to see!
