Review of Fiend Without a Face (1958) by Justin A — 25 Apr 2015
One of the classic 1950s horror/sci-fi films. It doesn't quite reach the level of movies like The Blob, The Fly, The Day the Earth Stood Still, or Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but this is still one of the more fun and entertaining movies of the genre from that time period.
It's a bit too nuclear paranoia heavy, being a very blunt movie instead of just hinting at potential war and nuclear fallout that was present in a lot of movies at the time. It also walks a fine line between being MST3K fodder and a true classic because it is so generic and corny at times.
Still, the plot unravels at a good pace, similar to a lot of the classic horror movies, and the monsters are memorable and the stop motion is great. There is also a decent amount of blood for the time.
A must-see for fans of these kinds of movies. You should know if you'll like this movie or not.
