Review of Field of Dreams (1989) by Greg L — 08 Mar 2010
An odd movie to say the least. The story is certainly original, but doesn't make a lot of sense, everything is draped in promising metaphors that don't quite resolve themselves gracefully, and it's as corny as the Iowa farmland in which it's mostly set but comes by its sentiment honestly.
Baseball's days as America's most popular game are over, and I doubt it will ever regain the hold on the imagination of future generations of Americans that it has for the Baby Boomers, but this film will always be around to reveal how people once felt about it.
