Jewish traditions, religion and views are forefront in this Jewison classic. Brilliantly directed and acted, particularly on the part of Topol, whose life is turned around by oncoming suitors for his 5 daughters and by a Russian revolution lurking in the shadows.
Very long, very musical and an eye-opener, in a way, to Jewish history. At least most of it is joyful, until the end that is.....
