Review of Fiddler on the Roof (1971) by Wade P — 12 Jun 2011
Inspired with great production value (though some technical stuff leaves a lot to be desired), but it's length is felt the more it moves along, especially the wedding scene. Topol and Norma Crane are tremendous, hilarious and make the journey worth it.
Williams adaptation of the music is tremendous. I just found it labored, a lot like The Sound of Music, in that it rolls along, never at a snail's pace, but you feel the length of it at the end. Still, a wonderful musical, well adapted from the stage.
