Review of Fiddler on the Roof (1971) by Patrick-Thomas G — 13 Oct 2009
One of the best Musicals ever put to film. Tevye played by Topol is one of the best acting performances I have ever seen in a Musical. Usually actor's focus on Music or the Acting, one or the other, But in this film the acting, singing, and direction are all magnificent.
This film won the Oscar for best Cinematography and it is easy to see why when watching this film. The colors are so vibrant that when you are watching the movie it is like walking through an art gallery full of paintings from the Renaissance.
This is my favorite classical musical film ever bar none.
