Review of Fiddler on the Roof (1971) by Patrick L — 02 Mar 2013
Fiddler on the Roof is a magnificent story and a marvelous adaptation from play into feature film by Canadian Norman Jewison, starring Topol and featuring Paul Michael Glaser (credited as Michael Glaser) who is known for playing Starsky in the tv police drama "Starsky and Hutch".
The film follows Tevye, his wife Golde, their 5 daughters and their neighbours of Jewish and Russian background in and around the village of Anatevka through hardship, the joys of courtship, the struggle.
Between tradition and individual desires, pogroms against the Jewish community, separation of family and forced removal from the village they call home. Giving this film 10/10 seems like two little praise therefore I also award it 5 out of 5 tears for touching the heart and speaking to the human condition.
