Review of Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) by Doug R — 16 Feb 2013
One of John Hughes' best work. Even though it takes almost the whole movie for it to get to the real "coming-to-age" stuff, it's as if the feelings were there all along. However I do feel the contrast between the "wacky stuff" in the city and Cameron's story at the end hurts the film as being a bit forced. Also I wish Hughes' developed the girl characters in this film a bit more, I felt there was a lot of missed opportunity there. In all a wonderful watch that will entertain a diverse audience.
Not to mention that art museum bit is probably my favorite scene in any John Hughes' work.
