Review of Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) by Gerardo A — 07 Jan 2014
It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is High School. Who hasn't fooled their parents and enjoyed a day off while in High School? It is a simple premise, but effective. A very well developed script attached to sarcastic acting by Matt Broderick.
The dialogues are well thought and written in such a way that it feels like a milestone for 90's classics right from the beginning, even though it's a 1986 film; of course its situational comedy atmosphere enhances this.
But further than that, I believe that the most important aspect of the film is its editing. Making it look like the film is full of outtakes and prolonging takes that otherwise would not work for their short duration, suddenly seems to compose the backbone of the story's rhythm.
Additionally, it has great foleys and musical sound effects. Recommended.
