Review of Fermat's Room (2007) by Alexis G — 26 Oct 2011
A so-so thriller about a bunch of mathematicians who get locked in a room that slowly shrinks as they try to solve a series of logic puzzles and suss out why they're there. Sold as a "Saw" copy, it's actually completely different.
None of the puzzles involve gory self-mutilation, the characters develop throughout the film rather than appearing only as faceless, personalityless mannequins to be torn apart by machinery, and there is an actual plot.
This is no bad thing. However, it still doesn't mean that you warm to any of the characters and hope for the best. It's quite fun figuring out the logic problems, I guess.
