Review of Fences (2016) by Ron N — 03 Mar 2017
I/we delayed seeing Fences because I heard it was sad and depressing. Well, it does have it's sad aspect, but it isn't depressing. We have a glimpse into what it meant to be black in 50s Pittsburgh and the struggle to survive.
Ultimately, we learn why Denze's character is the way he is, but that doesn't make his actions forgivable or justifiable by any means. He's a bad, mean dude. All the acting is superb, and pay special attention to Viola Davis in her Oscar winning role.
