Review of Fences (2016) by Matt D — 29 May 2017
While this counts more as filmed theatre than true cinema, one has to give all of the kudos in the world to the amazing performances on hand. Denzel has never been better and Davis brings her all yet again (snot crying included).
Great acting and glorious text aside, this really doesn't work as a film and begins to feel overly long in the last hour.
