Review of Fences (2016) by Doug A — 01 Jan 2017
August Wilson's writing is right on the money as he gives Viola Davis and Denzel Washington and the rest of the cast the opportunity to be in the moment and be in the culture........and it's fabulous.
We are, however, Broadway and Off-Broadway junkies and wished we were in that more intimate setting. The movie is spectacular but we kept saying.....it's just like the play but too up close and not intimate enough.
We've never watched an opera as a film so we don't know how this compares. In any event, Bravo to all.
