Review of Fences (2016) by Andrew T — 17 Mar 2017
A drama movie which is an adaptation of August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play with the same name. The movie takes place in Pittsburgh in the 1950s, where an African-American Troy (Denzel), a garbage collector raises his family & has to confront events in his own personal life and his family's.
Viola Davis is Rose as Troy's wife. The two lead performances are stunning, Denzel is a class act and Viola a star. The act overpowers the limitation of Denzel as a director. It feels more like a play.
A good watch for the Oscar worthy performances.
