Review of Fences (2016) by Jerome K — 14 Feb 2017
I didn't know until I started watching the film that it was adapted from a Broadway play. The long-winded speeches, sometimes unnatural ways of speaking, and restricted settings made it obvious. That can be a turn off for many, since the two mediums have different strengths and weaknesses.
With that said, the entire cast acted the the hell out of this film. It's full of emotion that practically bleeds off the screen. I hope Viola Davis finally wins a richly deserved Oscar.
