Review of Feeding Frenzy (2010) by Tim S — 13 Dec 2011
Being a fan of everything that Red Letter Media does, I had a spur of the moment need to see this, so I bought it from their website and popped it in as soon as I had the chance. Feeding Frenzy is not the kind of movie you want to see if you're looking for something overtly amateurish and terrible.
This film reminds me of Dark Star in many ways - more so than the Gremlins and Critters films it rips off. It's more about a group of amateur filmmakers setting out to make a genre-type film that lampoons the genre while at the same time being interesting on its own terms.
Sure the lightining isn't that great, the performances aren't altogether fantastic and the special effects & make-up were thrown together in someone's apartment (not to mention the story itself), but you can't ignore that these people are talented and know more about what they're doing than most amateurs.
I loved Feeding Frenzy, warts and all, and I look forward to future film projects and reviews from these insane geniuses.
