Review of Feast of Love (2007) by Brenna B — 21 Jun 2008
I am not the chick flick type. At all. Ever.
That aside, this is one of my favorite movies of all time. True, that might be because Toby Hemingway is consistently in the frame, but really, it's mostly because I will always adore a movie with heaping bounds of other-worldly, cynical, yet idealistic, cliche, yet world-shattering philosophy.
I can't rightfully give it five stars though; Greg Kinnear ruined it. His character just did not sit right with me. While Davalos optimism was inspiring and real, Kinnear's character's optimism seemed ignorant, naive, and undeserved. I didn't appreaciate what I saw as a "I'm going to live in this hole and continue to dig until I find a bone with maybe a little meat on it" attitude. I can't support the theory that desperation and romance are the same thing.
