Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by Matt M — 16 Feb 2013
A reporter and his attorney land in Las Vegas to cover a story on a bike race. However, soon enough, loaded with a suitcase filled with all kinds of drugs, the destination and purpose becomes of second importance to the trip.
Gilliam is the ideal director for Thompson's book, and reproduces faithfully its style and frenetic pace with his bizarre visual style. However, it all would have been useless without the great performances by Depp and Del Toro.
Still, the lack of plot will frustrate and bore some people, while others will just be completely sucked in its power.
