Review of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) by Kuehnau — 27 Nov 2017
If you are a fan of Hunter S. Thompson, it's likely you'll enjoy this film, as it's essentially a overly exaggerated biography of Mr. Thompson. People who are into the "drug scene" and can appreciate wonderful chemicals like LSD will also find the movie enjoyable. Visually the movie is wonderful and manages to simulate what it would be like while tripping on drugs like LSD. Almost every scene is colorful, bizarre and sometimes frightening.
The biggest issue with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is the writing and story telling. Simply put, the movie starts off with the most very basic idea of a story and then just goes completely off the rails. There is no ryme or reason for the movie's plot or story and eventually just mutates in a hodgepodge of scenes that make no sense and are barely connected to one another.
