Review of Fear and Desire (1953) by Andrew B — 28 Oct 2009
Stanley Kubrick's debut shoestring-budget feature is a mess...but it is one of the funnest messes I've witnessed in a long time. There is a chock full of fascinating character, cinematography, atmosphere and everything else that Kubrick is famous for, but is held down by amateurish pacing and a lack of a sense of direction.
Still there is never a dull moment, and I'm going to go on a limb and say that this could make a fantastic remake.
