Review of Fay Grim (2007) by Zachary S — 15 Jun 2007
Give the guy credit. Hal Hartley made a sequel to a little indie film, Henry Fool. Give him credit for turning the movie from a black comedy to a spy film. That's funny right? What it comes down to for me though is that this drastic shift, while portrayed in the film very well, made me uncomfortably reevaluate Henry Fool. I enjoyed seeing the character Henry as delusional. His ramblings were witty and funny. Fay Grim makes me look at his character in the opposite way.
Hal Hartley's film attempt at a poingant piece about America's involvement in the Middle East falls short. Too bad because this is Parker Posey at her best!
