Review of Faust: Love of the Damned (2000) by Andrew C — 26 Jan 2011
I think there was only one part in the movie that I was like "That was cool looking." And that was when John came to Isabel's place and the the two cops came in and he changed into the demon. The moment when the spikes protruded from his shoulders and then shot out the cape was cool, but with a half a second to show it almost anything could look cool in that moment. So aside from that and Mònica Van Campen being pretty hot, there really wasn't much to this.
Majority of the acting was poor. About half of the cinematography was just as bad, and it got annoying that they shot the volume way up whenever Faust was killing people. So you sit there on minute getting blasted out of your seat with some hardcore head banging music, then the next minute you can barely hear what the people are saying. So you're constantly fighting the volume controls.
Aside from that I don't really know what to say, there really just wasn't much that the movie had to offer. The effects on main character himself were low budget, one of the issues that many have are things with claws and horns that show tremors. It really pulls away from it, cause you would expect those things to be ridged, but ever time he holds up his blades they sit there shake, which is hard to ignore when the rest of the movie isn't that great.
