Review of Father and Son (2003) by Jose O — 14 Nov 2007
I tuned in to this movie by chance on IFC, and it kept my attention the whole time, but as many other people who have seen it, IO cannot quite describe it other than surreal, sensual and intriguing. The father and son in this movie share a relationship like no other ever caught on film, and that is gets you to watch the movie.. waiting to see where it all goes. And where is that destination? It depends on each individual's interpretation.
I loved the fact that the sound is so weird. There are many times that you could swear the actors are not really conversing, but that you are listening to a voiceover. Therefore, you are never quite sure if what you are seeing is what is happening or what the characters are imagining. And, to me, that makes the movie a much better experience.
