Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Bastet 0 — 10 Dec 2008
Long regarded as an intense thriller, I did not feel this movie lived up to expectation- I can tell it would have been unique and remarkable at the time but the longevity of it is nil.
Glenn Close plays an excellent (albeit homely) psycho, but I am most puzzled by Michael Douglas characters' infidelity. It was never indicated or explained how a man in a happy marriage, with no martial woes or work troubles, would become attracted to a rather mannish looking lady with a 2D personality. I mean, sure it serves him right she ends up being a neurotic mess but the story felt hollow- as if the affair was a means to an end.
The best thing going for this, IMO, is the ending is truly satisfying.
