Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Porter B — 02 Jan 2010
Manhattan lawyer Dan Gallagher (Douglas) has it all: successful career, attractive wife, loving daughter but his life takes a dark turn after he has a lusty weekend fling with a beautiful client, Alex Forrest (Glenn Close, a woman he met at a party while the family is out of town.
Glenn Close is fascinating to watch and gave probably the biggest performance of her career as the mentally unhinged, violent lover who wants sweet revenge when Douglas tries to break off the affair.
This movie teaches a lesson and is a good example of why married men shouldn't cheat on their wives, and why single guys shouldn't go for a one night stand.
A very dangerous, dark and disturbing movie, Director Adrian Lyne knows how to create tension, character depth, suspense, and climatic moments. Many, many scenes are very strong from the infamous "rabbit" one to the sultry sex scene. The final confrontation in the bathroom is the stuff of Grade-A horror.
The story is ever engrossing and a real smart and erotic thriller. Worth seeing!
