Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Kirk P — 18 Feb 2010
Happily married man has a weekend fling with a woman who turns out to be psychotic and proceeds to turn his (and his family?s) life into a living hell. Close seems like a nice enough gal at the start, soft-spoken and intelligent, though her hair could use some work.
The movie becomes an interesting psychological thriller once she begins to obsess over their ?relationship.? Fatal Attraction relies heavily on Close?s acting chops as a psycho, and sure enough she?s got them in spades, switching between jealousy, possessiveness, and guilt in a blink of an eye.
Entertaining throughout, until the horror movie conclusion, complete with the unforgivable Friday the 13th cliche that the villain is never really dead.
