Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Chris D — 29 Jun 2010
Works well as a psychological thriller and Glenn Close is especially brilliant here. The roller coaster scene really bothers me, however: why would the the school allow a kid to be picked up by a stranger they had never seen before. It was a logical flaw that bugged me after the film closed, and it served to help weaken the ending.
The original ending called for Close to commit suicide, which seemed more fitting for the character. In true Hollywood fashion, though, they chose to end it with gun violence. A very dumbed-down ending to an otherwise smart film.
