Review of Fatal Attraction (1987) by Xander S — 11 Sep 2014
Featuring brilliant performances, simmering suspense and one of the most fascinating plots in the history of the thriller, "Fatal Attraction" is a brutal, compelling masterpiece. Early on, Glenn Close establishes a level of insanity so high that one wonders how she can maintain it.
Then she tops it... over and over again. Yet as disturbed as her character clearly is, there are moments--and just enough of them--where she's actually sympathetic. The music by Maurice Jarre is fine, if not at all memorable.
But then you may find that a nice change of pace for the father of the earworm ("Lara's Theme," anyone?).
