Review of Faster (2010) by D P — 24 Apr 2011
I'm not going to lie---I really expected this movie to be a mindless joy ride. However, I was quite surprised, for this movie is the polar opposite. I am not at all a fan of Dwayne Johnson, but I really liked him in this film---I was really rooting for him by the end.
The action scenes are intense, yet simple---and I think it works in the film's favor. The plot has some nice (albeit foreseen) twists, but there are so many that you probably will be caught off guard at least once.
This movie may be viewed as a stupid revenge story by those who haven't seen it, but it really is about finding and giving forgiveness, and about the consequences of out actions. A rather powerful moment between Dwayne and a pastor really sums up the whole movie.
If you are looking for a movie to rent this weekend---look no further. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
