Review of Faster (2010) by Movie K — 06 Aug 2014

I quite like this simple revenge movie. But will be better if there's more action or gore. Good but kind of expected ending. Dwayne Johnson is release from prison after 10 years. The warden Tom Berenger give him a final prep talk.

Dwayne run to the car pound to get back his old school Chevelle SS with gun inside, prepared by Mike Epps. He only have revenge in mind. Immediately, he barge into an office and kill his 1st target (Telemarketer).

Billy Bob Thornton is a junkie cop who is weeks from retirement, investigating the murder of 1st victim with Carla Gugino who doesn't like him. Dwayne find Mike and pay him for the stuffs. Mike help him track down the list of people he want to kill and says the price just went up.

Dwayne don't buy such shit and the Samoa fighter see his tattoo and freak out, quickly left. Mike quickly just hand over the list and refund the cash. Oliver Jackson-Cohen is a killer who likes to challenge new things and conquer.

His girlfriend is Maggie Grace. He is hired to kill Dwayne. He is rich and have many cool cars and weapons. Carla track Dwayne history. He was a bank robber driver and manage to escape with his brother and others on board.

Then they were ambush by another gang in their hideout. The terrible ordeal is been film by the baddies and Carla got hold of the tape. The brother is killed even after Dwayne tells them where the money is.

Oliver cover the old man whom Dwayne is going to kill next. The old man pretend to be weak and ask a young girl to help him up his apartment. He offer her a drink which makes her dizzy and he is not weak at all.

He want to rape her. Dwayne barge in and kill him in the head. Oliver aims for him at the back and a girl came out. Dwayne push her back in and shoot at Oliver then escape. Dwayne was actually killed too back then but he revive in hospital on his own.

The bullet go through his back head and ricochet out from the cheek. His head is held in place by a metal plate. Moon Bloodgood is Billy ex-wife and she is angry he is late to pick their son to baseball game.

Carla investigate the 2nd killing and also know he's the one who shot the video of the ambush. Oliver is amaze of Dwayne skills and like this challenge. He propose to Maggie. Carla saw a tattoo on Billy hand and he says he was from another hardcore unit before transferred, married his snitch and stay clear of drugs since his son is born.

Dwayne go find Jennifer Carpenter next who is the ex-girlfriend. She hope he kill them all. Oliver promise Maggie he will quit as hitman to start a family with her. Next target is the bouncer, one who kill the brother.

He is expecting revenge from Dwayne and ask the toilet man to guard outside. They have a fair fight and end quickly. Before he die, he ask Dwayne to call his son to say he is sorry. And he did. Billy think the stabbing is link to Dwayne.

Bouncer is not dead yet and he return to kill him in hospital. Billy chase him but he point the gun at his head. Billy surrender ready to die but Dwayne see him as a cop and left. Oliver car chase him and Dwayne do a nice turn brake and shoot his tyre.

Oliver quickly shot him in the neck and he escape. The hirer don't want him to continue the job. Dwayne find his mum to stitch up the wound and want to kill his father whom he think set them up. But the father is already dead years before.

Carla got another new lead and that is all the dead guys are snitches who never did time and they have crimes in their data. Last target is the Evangelist (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). He tell Dwayne he took the reward and spend on drugs and women, did his time and that's where he find God.

He seek forgiveness from Dwayne and sing. Dwayne didn't kill him and ask him to go back to his family. Oliver find him and point the gun. Billy arrive and call Carla. Dwayne don't want to fight against Oliver and he is not happy of that treatment.

He tells him its not over as there's one more guy he have not kill which is the hirer. Billy came in and ask Oliver to put down the gun. Then he shot Dwayne at the back, the same way he did in the ambush.

He is the hirer as well, afraid he can't finish the job. Dwayne brother girlfriend is Billy informant who told him about the job, so Billy gather his other informants (those dead ones kill by Dwayne) for the ambush.

Oliver is angry he didn't finish the job and didn't accept the fee of $1 from Billy. Carla look through the new fax and discover Billy is the cop who handle those dead informants. She ask her boss Xander Berkeley if he let him join the case.

It is Billy who volunteer and beg to join. Billy call his wife and say things are gonna be brand new. Then Dwayne shoot him in the back. He got metal plate in his head so he didn't die and kill off Billy.

Carla decide to keep the info to herself. Oliver call Maggie to patch up.
