Review of Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) by Eve L — 25 Sep 2010
Wow, this movie is so pre-AIDS it is kind of mindblowing to watch it now. It's almost like watching a documentary from another country.
It's sort of the precursor to Dazed and Confused, in both it's excellent dialogue, astute observations of adolescence, and general lack of plot.
What a fantastic cast though. Forest Whitaker, Anthony Edwards, and Eric Stoltz - and they barely get to speak. Judge Reinhold really steals the show, along with Sean Penn.
It's definitely a must see for any American. It captures a lot about our culture and our society.
