Review of Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) by Kenneth H — 06 Apr 2010
I'm not normally a fan of stupid comedy movies, but there's just something about "hey bud, let's party!" that I can't resist. This movie is random, incoherent and pointless, a jumble of different stories melded together, with the only unifying thread being that they all relate to the simultaneously exciting, dull, simple, confusing, fun, and frustrating life as a high schooler. Plus, there's quite a bit of female nudity in this movie (most notably Phoebe Cates's tits) and who can complain about that?
The movie did go kinda overboard with the music; there's an 80s song playing in like 95 percent of the film. Some of those songs were good though (I especially liked "Somebody's Baby" by Jackson Browne, and how the movie played it every time Stacy had sex).
All in all it's a fun and entertaining ride.
