Review of Fast Five (2011) by Kareem R — 01 Oct 2012

Fact: Vin Diesel is awesome.

Fact: The Rock is just as, if not more awesome.

Fact: every single car in this movie and every stunt is awesome, more so because they stopped with the outdated CGI.

What do you get when this much awesome is locked together for two hours? A sheer level of insane, over the top, proudly physics defying exhilarating thrills and road rage that make Michael Bay movies look like The Last Song in comparison. Fast Five is hilarious (they actually got a toilet joke right in the most explosively hilarious way possible) and surprisingly well-written, as in it actually has a script with a vocabulary of more than fifteen words and a nice moral emphasis on loyalty and family, and it has a couple of heartwarming moments to it. However, all this gets upstaged by the final twenty minutes, where all of Rio is torn to pieces by a ten-ton safe attached to a pair of Dodge Charges and moving at insane speeds. Dont try to calculate the physics, you'll have a brain aneurysm. This movie is made of win, nothing more to it, and I seriously lost track of the amount of times the audience went "Holy S**t." Best movie of the year so far.

Now that its late 2012: best movie of 2011 period.
