Review of Fast, Cheap & Out of Control (1997) by Sean C — 22 Nov 2009
Interesting documentary about four eccentrics and their obsessions. I particularly liked the robotic engineer and the animal trainer, while I found the hedge gardener sad, but the naked-mole rat expert annoying.
What I found interesting is the subtext of the film, which is the eternal struggle between order and meaning vs. chaos and the unpredictable. The end result is a film that illustrates these tensions and suggests that the universe is a much more flexible and malleable place then we assume it to be.
