Review of Fargo (1996) by Rahul J — 29 May 2012
A brilliant crime drama with some subtle humor thrown in. Based on a true story, the actual criminal part of it is cold and ruthless. But the humor is in the way the crime gets solved. A small time seemingly small minded middle aged pregnant cop from an icy part of the US manages to solve a complicated crime and apprehend all suspects while seven months pregnant.
And for her it all in a day's work. But her simplistic lifestyle and the way of thinking should be admired because there is some wisdom in that kind of minimalism. All other characters are good in their own right playing stereotypes perpetuated by crime films.
But there is some complexity brought in without any unnecessary music or dialogue. It felt close to real.
