Review of Fargo (1996) by Vern H — 02 Apr 2013
Fargo is an immensely entertaining while compelling fable on crime in the mid-west thanks to a deliciously fresh and funny script, pitch-perfect and continuously hilarious performances all around, most notably from Frances McDormand, unique, memorable characters, some of the funniest dark humor I have ever seen, taunt editing and pacing, a wonderfully even balance of stark violence and black comedy, graceful and gripping cinematography, a compelling score from Carter Burwell, and once again the Coen Brother's signature quirky charm that make their movies so potent.
