Review of Fargo (1996) by Sidney S — 29 Nov 2012
A gripping thriller with a very simplistic but great story that turns into a very dark story with a mix of black comedy, and murder. The Coen's direct this great crime film that shows us the desperate measures people would go to for the simple price of money. Jerry (William H. Macy) organizes to get his wife kidnapped in order to get some much needed money. The plan takes a turn for the worst when the kidnappers played by Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare when Stormare's character snaps and goes on a killing spree taking out all witnesses.
The plot thickens as police are on Jerry's trail and Carl (Buscemi) lusts for the money after all the problems that have occurred. The film is very dark in themes and dramatic. The performances are well done but its Steve Buscemi's character that steals the show, Buscemi is a great actor and perfectly casted. The film becomes deadly and dangerous specifically near the film's end its very climatic. Fargo is a very well crafted crime/suspense film.
