Review of Fargo (1952) by Critic M — 08 Dec 2013
A prime example of a perfect film. The cast, story, direction and setting is absolutely appropriate and as I said, damn near perfect. There is something to say about a movie that can have characters murder innocent people and still make you chuckle at certain parts. The Coen bros are kings of balancing the dark and light in their films. This yin and yang dance is evident in "Fargo" and works very well. Buscemi is the man and takes his sleazy role to a new level. McDormand is likeable as a small town police chief and William H. Macy does a ramarkable job at playing a jittery, guilty salesman.
All things considered, "Fargo" is my idea of a brilliant picture.
