Review of Fargo (1952) by Raji K — 16 Apr 2016
In 1984 the Coen Brothers presented the suspense film Blood Simple. Over a decade later they release Fargo a film that like Blood Simple is in a small town with not much going on. Fargo features better characters, more intense scenes, and brings a dark comedy element that makes Fargo a well rounded film.
William H. Macy is fantastic as the idiot criminal who hires two men to kidnap his wife so he can cash in on the ransom money. The men he hires are Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare who seem to need to kill anyone in their path.
Keeping tabs on the entire case is a very pregnant, but energetic cop in Frances Mcdormand. Fargo has excellent scenes that are full of intensity or simply black comic genius and sets the bar for many future films to come.
