Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Jer M — 07 Jun 2007
Masterpiece of Queer Cinema. Todd Haynes is a genius. It works on so many levels, commenting simultaneously on 1950s Hollywood melodramas, issues that could not be explored in a movie during that time, how far we've come or fallen from 1957 to 2002, whether your sexual preference or race defines who you are as a human being, the rot underneath the "normal" American family, and so much else.
This film is a masterpiece.
