Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Laimis Z — 16 Mar 2009
It is a tribute to classical hollywood cinema, only this one is in colour and it deals with a contraversal subject matter: homsexuality and racism. julianne moore is superb, her underacting siuts this film and her character perfect.
even the way this film was filmed is exactly the same as if you were indeed watching one of those black and white films from the 50's. it's as if the director is trying to prove that he has done his homework.
and it totally works. the style fits the concept of an ideal american family living an american dream. not so perfect now is it? a great homage to an era of deep, deep repression.
