Review of Far from Heaven (2002) by Madeline M — 10 Dec 2010
Although sometimes the homage in Far From Heaven comes too close to parody (the syrupy soundtrack, the choice of fonts) generally I found it a compelling subversion and tribute to the genre. Julianne Moore is quite good, and I think Dennis Haysbert was good casting.
It's difficult to think of another actor believable in the role (Lance Reddick, for example, is too knife-like). The costumes are particularly beautiful.
