Review of Far and Away (1992) by Natalie S — 20 Sep 2007
The gorgeous scenery, musical score and acting combine to make this a wonderful movie filled with feeling. Tom Cruise is the young Irishman avenging the resposession of his farm by a wealthy landowner whose unhappy, headstrong daughter (played beautifully by Nicole KIdman) convinces him to run away with her to America for a life of freedom (him from his loss of direction, her from her restricting parents).
It is a traditional immigrant story of lost but regained dreams, faith and love. It is a moving story with lots of adventure and romance that is always enjoyable to see once in a while.
