Far and Away - absolutely gorgeous movie, one that I can say "this is why I love filmaking". Has the 90s period piece flavor which I love so much down to a T. Why it's so forgotten and has such low scored on the tomato-meter is way, way beyond me.
It's as every bit as good as a Howard-Cruise-Kidman collaboration would suggest. A grand adventure tale, a grand period piece, a strong story with two characters who have romance which is actually likable. At places it may get a bit hokey, but it has the heart to carry it through.
