Review of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) by Danny O — 11 Aug 2014
Rise of the Silver Surfer is better than the first, but that isn't saying much. At least some fun can be had with this one. The effects are much improved, making for some fun action. The story is still unsure of what it wants to be, and fails to be that cohesive.
The dialogue is pretty dumb, but there are some mildly entertaining moments. This movie, like the first one, suffers from an uninspired plot and characters we don't care much about. It becomes very predictable, and just when you think they've made an interesting foe, the real mastermind is a space cloud.
That's how silly this movie gets, and while it improves on the original, it's still a bad movie. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer gets 2/5 stars (C-).
