Review of Fantastic Four (2015) by Oliver B — 16 Dec 2018
This is a bad movie, but in MY opinion is better than the last Fantastic Four. I believe this is an improvement in the last one but not by much. Michael B. Jordan was an amazing Human Torch. As you know it may not be a comic book like but does that matter that much. Also, it helps to show that Johnny and Susan are not apart of the same biological family. In the old one, it was harder to get that across. As well as loving this one's Human Torch, I also love The Thing. I prefer this character to the old version since its more comic book accurate, more stronger, and his rock texture is super cool. The CGI way is the way to go. I didn't like Kate Mara who played Invisible Girl. I believe she has great acting skills and she had a great opportunity to show it in this film as she goes through Inhuman changes but she doesn't. She says, "I refuse to see this film, it's terrible.". Terrible is a big word for this film. But I won't lie, it's no cinematic masterpiece. Luckily for her, the special effects made up for her effortless acting. Now onto - unfortunately - this Fantastic Fours' Mr. Fantastic is very, very bad. The way he projected his words was great but everything else about him is trash. His facial expressions are bad, his special effects aren't up to standards for 2015, and the actor (Miles Teller) looks way to young for the role.
In this film they show flashbacks of Mr. Fantastic and The Thing as they build the portal for which were they got their abilities from. Miles Teller plays 16 years old him from the flashbacks, which is fine when you add some makeup or some sort of special effect usage. But they didn't make him look the same age in the present. I just didn't like the young Mr. Fantastic. The film wasn't stretched but the timeline was. This film seemed to take place over years and years. Also, there are many plot holes. Stan Lee didn't have a cameo in here. So that sucked. I believe they could of have done better with Doctor Doom abilities because he's quite overpowered. It seemed easy for him to win in seconds. I would not recommend this. I would age this 12 for gore, bad language, and violence.
Grade: B.
