Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Simon S — 05 Dec 2018
I'm pretty dissapointed with this movie. It had the power to be good, but it took its fans and all of it's guarenteeded money, and used it in the wrong way. The crimes of Grindelwald does many things, but in the end it ends up being the least watchable movie in the series.
First, I'd like to start out by saying the pros of this movie. It definitly still has it's moments, and it expands on magic in a simple, but charming way. All the actors are good, especially Eddie Redmane, who always does a good job no matter what movie he's in. For the most part the story makes sense, and after seing the movie you at least don't regret it.
Now for the cons. This movie is so unintentionally long, when it has almost no content in it. We see Grinelwald, but he never does any crimes. He escapes from prison, I guess that's a crime, and he kills a few muggles living in an apartment. I was expecting to see the cruel side of a wizard, as Grindelwald if famously bad, but we really don't see anything. By the end I was dissapointed on what I got out of it; it didn't seem like a movie. It just seemed like a money grabber. The only other notable thing I can think of is Queenie Goldstein's bad acting. She was good in the last movie, but she's almost unwatchable in this one.
