Review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) by Carol Z — 19 Nov 2018
Loved it. It was darker than I anticipated. Story was quite surprising, funny, sad, infuriating and mesmerizing. Grindelwald was absolutely captivating. Johnny Depp was exceptional in portraying him as an evil yet charming villain, leaves no question why and how he was able to divide the wizarding world.
All the old characters were equally up to the task. Loved all the old and new characters. Saw a bit more of what makes Newt a wonderful and powerful wizard in his own right. More darker than the Harry Potter movies, but just as twisted.
Bummed that it'll be awhile before the next installment. I'd watch it again. Special effects on point. I know it's ending messed up a bit of what audiences believe during the HP series but isn't that what JK is known for messing with our heads with the story behind what happened.
Yup twisted but that's part of the fun of adventure of going through the HP world. I think it was awesome.
