Review of Fantasia (2015) by Conor O — 23 Jan 2013
Fantastic, amazing, beautiful, artistic, relaxing but also exiting and just pure genious. This is Fantasia and Walt Disney could not have picked a better title for this masterpiece and to think that it was made in 1940.
This movie is 73 years old and the animation can easily hold up with todays cartoons.
Although it's Disney I would say that you can't watch this as a child and understand what you're seeing. Sure, every child has seen the story with the sorcerer's apprentice and everyone knows the dancing flowers and hippos but there are scenes which many haven't seen yet, due to many tv stations only showing parts of this great movie and never showing it in it's entire lenght. The thing is, a child could never ever possibly comprehend what Fantasia is showing us. Even adults have a hard time with it, I myself as well. But I really enjoyed watching it, always wondering what would come next.
This is a movie for adults who love art and music.
The combination of the animation with classic music from Bach, Tschiakovsky, Stravinsky and many other well known composers is just genious. There is no other way to describe what you will see in this movie.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, watch it.
You will hardly ever see an animated movie in this league. Fantasia is big, sucks you in and will have you wondering what you just saw, for the rest of the evening.
I don't care what anyone says, but this movie is a 10 / 10. Must see.
