Review of Fantasia 2000 (2000) by Nigel L — 16 May 2008
Magnificent. Unlike the original, this one is much shorter and the pieces chosen have more mass appeal. Also unlike the original, the interstitials are far more casual and lighthearted instead of its predecessor's overbearing and pretentious ones by Deems Taylor which are only made worse by following up with kitschy images.
Special mention must be made for the Rhapsody in Blue segment, which has got to be one of the finest 15mins of animation ever put on film. Not a single weak segment here, as nearly all are wonderful. A must see.
